Apps open where you tap them

Tap an app on the left and it opens on the left. The right side keeps what it had. Tap on the right and it opens there. Anything you open from an app stays on its side.

A Home gesture for each side

A small bar sits under every open app. Swipe up on it and only that side goes Home. Tap it to move the app left or right, make it full screen, or go Home. The other side never notices.

The dock that stays

Your dock stays on the edge while you use other apps. Tap an app to open it on that side. Hide it behind a slim edge tab if you prefer.

Open an app on either side by dragging it out

Hold an app in the dock, drag it out, and drop it on the left, the right, or the crease in the middle for the whole screen.

Two experiences, one app, one backup file

Pick one in the first-run tour and switch any time in settings. Duo gives you two Home screens side by side, the way the iPhone Duo and the Surface Duo worked. Foldanic puts one list of everything beside your cover Home, with apps opening over the whole screen and Home one tap away on the left edge. Both are built from the same pages, dock, folders and widgets.

Out of the way for apps that mind

Banks, wallets and video players refuse anything drawn over them. Duo hides its dock and bars while they are open, with a list you can add to in one tap.

Your icon pack just works

Any icon pack from Google Play, the same packs Nova and ADW use. Six icon shapes, monochrome icons tinted by Material You or one of five palettes.

Nothing leaves your phone

No account. No server. Duo uploads nothing and stores nothing anywhere but on your phone. No ads, no analytics. Location is used only if you turn on sunrise and sunset appearance.

The Backup Studio, for your backup files

Duo saves your whole layout, both experiences included, to one file: duo-backup.json. The Backup Studio on this site is an optional web tool for that file. It checks a backup for problems, repairs what it can, migrates older backup versions to the current format, and builds starter layouts you restore on the phone.

The launcher never talks to this site. You choose what to upload, and deleting a job deletes its files.

Questions

Does it work on other phones?

No. Duo is made for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and is only listed for it.

Why does Duo ask for Display over other apps?

The bars under each side and the dock over other apps are small windows; Android needs your permission for that once.

Why a notification?

Android requires anything drawn over other apps to show one while it runs. Duo's is silent and opens the launcher.

Why Usage access?

To know which app is in front, so Duo can step aside for apps that refuse overlays and keep the app you were in when you open another beside it. Duo reads only the name of the app in front; nothing leaves the phone.

What is the Duo Google Companion?

A small free helper you install once so Google Discover can open over Home. Google serves its feed only to system and debuggable apps.

Does the Home gesture close both sides?

Android's own gesture does. Turn on "Ignore the system Home swipe while unfolded" and Duo puts the apps back.

Can I choose how wide each side is?

Android decides the split and offers no way for an app to choose it. Drag the divider between the halves; Duo keeps the width you set while the pair lives.

What happens when the trial ends?

Play charges the yearly price unless you cancelled. Without a subscription your apps stay reachable from Duo's start screen and you can switch Home apps.

Is my data uploaded?

No. There is no account and no server. Backups are files you save yourself, and the Backup Studio on this site only sees a backup if you choose to upload it.
